Perth – Western Australia

31 May 2020

Perth was my last base in Australia. I spent a few days there to sell my car and then 3 days after my last road trip.

  • Useful information

Perth is the capital of Western Australia. It’s a big city lost all by itself on the west coast of Australia. Just like for Melbourne I had the opportunity to test few hostels, but also camps! Knowing that I rather stayed in Fremantle when I had a car (you can park for free around the Art center). In Perth you can park in the botanical garden but not for the long term. You will also enjoy a beautiful view of the city :

I didn’t take a lot of transport in Perth but there is a train station which goes to Perth from Fremantle. I also took the bus to the airport from the bus station. Plan ahead because I waited almost 1 hour! Here you will find all the bus information. Attention there is a bus where I should not get in because I had something to drink…

  • Visits

  • City

Besides the magnificent view of the botanical garden it is quite pleasant to walk in the center of Perth.

The library also allows a nice view and a very nice terrace upstairs!

Fremantle is also very pleasant for walking! I didn’t do it but we can also visit the old prison!

  • Nature

Of course wildlife side the must is Rottnest island! But on Heirisson island you will also find a park with kangaroos. Remember that they go out especially in the evening so during the day if it’s hot you will not see them. By cons I was lucky to see dolphins come for a swim (because of their regular movements I would say they were sleeping).

For the beach I only went to Cottesloe, of course being close to Perth you will not be alone!
