During my holidays in sables d’Olonnes the past year, I unfortunately broke down my car … It was therefore stuck at Chartes. When I went to pick it up I took the opportunity to visit the old town, I loved it!

Cathedrale
I had chosen to stay really close, in an old monastery of Chartres.
The cathedral is of course a must-see in the city of Chartres!

Historical Center
I really enjoyed walking around old Chartres. It is really the type of old city center that I particularly like! In addition, it is a pedestrian priority part, few cars having access to the historic heart which makes the walks all the more pleasant. On the other hand, be careful, you need good shoes because it climbs a lot!
I also walked into a small church not far from the cathedral and I admit I was saddened by the spectacle … I really had the impression that all the funds from the church go to the cathedral while the others churches are left in disuse :(. This church is in pretty bad shape inside :

A little Venice?
It was the big surprise for me, I did not expect to see this type of landscape in Chartres. There is indeed a little Venice here! It’s a bit below the historic center but it’s worth the detour!
